Nkom says plans for Telia-Ice RAN joint venture may require conditions

Norwegian telecoms regulator Nkom is seeking comments on its preliminary assessments of plans by Ice owner Lyse and Telia Norway to combine their mobile radio access networks (RANs) in a 50-50 joint venture. While there appear to be no reasons to refuse the transfer of their relevant frequency licences, Nkom's preliminary conclusion is that conditions or other measures may be needed to ensure efficient frequency use and promote competition

PosteMobile prolongs offer with cashback for unused data

The PosteMobile MVNO of the Poste Italiane group has decided to extend the availability of a plan with 200GB of data on the TIM network for EUR 10 a month that refunds up to EUR 4 a month in credit for unused monthly data. The 'PosteMobile Back 200' rate, with unlimited calls and SMS plus the 200GB data bundle, was initially available in post offices and online until the start of June but has now been extended until at least 05 September.

Green Horizon plans 36 MW data centre worth EUR 300 mln near Stavanger

Norwegian data centre company Green Horizon said it has planning approval for its first facility, called Norway 1. It had already secured zoning approval for the site near Stavanger and will now progress towards final design and construction. Green Horizon is working with international consultants and a contractor, aiming to start building the 36 MW centre later this year and be ready for service in the second half of 2027. The EUR 300 million development will create approximately 400 construction jobs.

Telecom Italia (TIM) has launched a new summer-themed offer to persuade customers to sign up to three of the plans in its TIMvision pay-TV portfolio. Under the 'TIMvision Days Estate' promo, anyone who subscribes by 27 June will be offered a substantially reduced monthly rate for the first 12 months, compared to six months previously, as well as more content.

Google taps Intel to supply 3 million tensor processors in 2028 - report

Google is believed to have placed a booking with Intel supply over 3 million of its custom-designed tensor processing microchips (TPUs), designed to accelerate matrix AI calculations in its data centres and Pixel smartphones. While an official confirmation is still to emerge, California-based technology journal The Information cited unnamed sources with a direct understanding of ongoing deal discussions. The report indicated Intel would begin shipping commercial volumes to Google sometime in 2028.

Xantaro has announced an expansion of its partnership with Scottish fibre altnet GoFibre to include deployment of fully-integrated street cabinet solutions and a managed service offering. Above-the line advertising spend in the Dutch streaming market declined 8 percent year-on-year to EUR 6.6 million in April 2026, according to figures from Nielsen. Comcast's Xfinity brand has announced a bilingual viewing experience for the 2026 FIFA World Cup across its entertainment platforms, allowing fans to follow all games in English and Spanish. MTN Group has partnered with Singapore-based Ant International to accelerate the development of its mobile money (MoMo) fintech system. The number of active Peruvian mobile lines climbed 2.9 percent year on year to reach 39.4 million at the end of March 2026, up from 38.3 million a year earlier, according to the latest data from telecommunications regulator Osiptel. Total lines (with or without traffic) came to 42.2 million. Active postpay lines reached a record 20.6 million at the end of the first quarter, up 12.4 percent year on year and equivalent to 52.3 percent of the total, said the watchdog.

Orange ends sponsorship of French Velodrome venue in Marseille

The Velodrome football stadium in the French city of Marseille, which was renamed Orange Velodrome in 2016 under a 10-year branding agreement, is looking for a new sponsor after Orange decided not to renew the partnership. Namibian regulator receives over 600 appeals to reverse Starlink ban

The Communications Regulatory Authority of Namibia (CRAN) says it has received 624 applications from the public requesting a reconsideration of its decision to deny an operating licence to Starlink Internet Services Namibia. CRAN said the appeals were submitted entirely by aggrieved citizens and stakeholders but added that it received a formal reconsideration application from Starlink Internet Services Namibia on 08 June. The regulator will process all submissions in accordance with the Communications Act.
