Orascom Telecom revenues grow 19% to USD 2.65 bln Tuesday 2 September 2008 | 12:18 PM CET

Egypt-based telecommunications operator Orascom Telecom reports a 19 percent increase in revenues to USD 2.65 billion for the first half of this year compared with the first half of 2007. At the same time, its EBITDA grew by 22 percent to USD 1.16 billion and the net profit dropped by 4 percent to USD 276 million. Orascom's customer base grew by 31 percent to 77.34 million compared with 58.88 million on 30 June 2007 (excluding Iraqna customers). The largest customer growth was achieved by Orascom's Bangladeshian operator Banglalink with 87 percent, followed by Egyptian mobile operator Mobinil with 47 percent, Tunisian operator Tunisiana with 23 percent, Pakistani operator Mobilink with 21 percent, Algerian operator Djezzy with 19 percent and Telecel Zimbabwe with 9 percent.
