Mobile operator One becomes Orange Austria on 22 September Sunday 7 September 2008 | 06:21 PM CET

Austrian mobile operator One will be renamed into Orange Austria on 22 September of this year. The operator launched an announcement campaign for the name change on 1 September, but did not give a final name change date until now. With the name change, One becomes part of the fifth largest mobile operator in the world. During the coming days, all 2 million One customers will be informed about the name change and possible effects on their services via SMSs. At first now changes will be made to their current tariffs and conditions, only the name in their mobile phone display will change from One into Orange. At the same time all existing One World stores will be changed into Orange shops and the website orange.at will be launched. In total, One invests EUR 20 million in the name change to Orange. The name change was made possible due to the acquisition of One by Orange and venture capitalist Mid Europa Partners (MEP) during 2007. Orange has 35 percent and MEP holds 65 percent of One.
