Telecom Italia starts tender for Argentina stake - report Friday 19 June 2009 | 10:09 AM CET
 
Telecom Italia has selected financial institution Credit Suisse First Boston to conduct a closed tender for the sale of its 50 percent stake in Sofora, the controlling company of Telecom Argentina. Two operators are competing in the tender, namely Grupo Clarin, and a consortium formed by America Corporation and Aeropuertos Argentina 2000, reports La Nacion, citing sources close to the deal. Via the Telecom Argentina stake acquisition, Clarin aims to expand its cable TV services and enter the local triple-play market.
