Motorola sets up demo LTE network in Stockolm Wednesday 12 August 2009 | 04:18 PM CET

Motorola has set up a LTE network in the 2.6 GHz band in the streets of the Stockolm district Kista to demonstrate the next-generation wireless broadband technology to operators from across Scandinavia. During a so-called 'drive tour', a LTE-enabled van will be used to offer its visitors mobile broadband performance as well as media experiences on the move. The demonstration will also include hand-over between sectors and a number of video applications running over LTE. Inside the van, visitors will see SD and HD streaming video from a Motorola video-on-demand server, and will also be able to use VoIP calls, web browsing, file downloads and other high-bandwidth and low-latency internet-based applications. Participants to the tour are invited to connect via a touch-screen tablet computer to a Wi-Fi network within the van which is backhauled by the LTE network. The LTE network, which includes two Motorola LTE eNodeBs running on commercial hardware, is integrated with Motorola's backhaul and evolved packet core products.
