MTS receives regulatory approval for deal with Rogers Monday 14 September 2009 | 07:43 AM CET

Canadian operator Manitoba Telecom Services, including its principal operating subsidiary MTS Allstream has confirmed that its contract with Rogers Wireless to share the cost to deploy a UMTS/HSPA wireless network across the existing MTS regional wireless footprint has received the required regulatory approvals. The contract also allows MTS to use Rogers' purchasing scope and scale to gain access to new network technology and HSPA handsets. MTS HSPA customers will have access to the national and international roaming capabilities as a Rogers roaming partner. The contract also provides MTS with the opportunity to launch a national wireless business offering under the Allstream brand through a wholesale arrangement.
