T-Mobile USA in talks with Clearwire, MetroPCS - report Wednesday 23 September 2009 | 01:20 PM CET

T-Mobile USA is in talks to gain access to radio frequencies controlled by Clearwire and MetroPCS, as part of efforts to expand its mobile network, two people familiar with the matter told Bloomberg News. Sprint Nextel, which owns 51 percent of Clearwire, is also involved in the talks with T-Mobile parent company Deutsche Telekom, the people said. Clearwire said in August it needed USD 2 billion by year-end to complete its own network expansion, and Deutsche Telekom could provide funding in exchange for access, one of the people said. Deutsche Telekom is unlikely to make an offer for all of Sprint, according to one of the sources. All four companies declined to comment.
