TIM Brasil to launch mobile app store with Qualcomm Thursday 15 October 2009 | 08:44 AM CET

TIM Brasil, in partnership with Qualcomm, has launched a multi-platform mobile applications store in Latin America. The TIM App Store is powered by Qualcomm's Plaza Retail, which supports various operating systems and platforms including Java, Brew, Flash and Android. The company will soon add support for Windows Mobile, Palm, Symbian and LiMo phones. TIM has scheduled the app store launch in Brazil for the first quarter of 2010. The TIM App Store will be offered across the entire device portfolio, targeting TIM's over 40 million subscribers across Brazil. Customers will be able to download the app store onto their mobile devices by accessing the operator's Wap portal or through the Web Store. TIM will use Qualcomm's Plaza Retail application retail service to create a uniform shopping experience and merchandize mobile content across its entire device portfolio. Additionally, to stimulate the development of applications in Brazil, TIM and Qualcomm will offer a series of workshops for Brazilian developers in November.
