Sierra Wireless moves to net profit in Q2

Canada-based mobile and wireless modem manufacturer Sierra Wireless' second-quarter revenues increased 18 percent to USD 159.1 million from USD 135.3 million in the year-earlier quarter. M2M revenues grew 53 percent in to USD 83.6 million from USD 54.6 million. M2M growth was partially offset by a decline of 6 percent in Mobile Computing revenue to USD 75.5 million from USD 80.7 million. The gross margin fell to 29 percent from 35.8 percent. The net loss widened to USD 8.6 million or USD 0.28 loss per share from a net loss of USD 5.9 million or USD 0.19 loss per share. Cash and cash equivalents amounted to USD 102 million at the end of the Q2. The company expects revenues in the range of USD 168-173 million in Q3. Earnings from operations is anticipated to be in the range of USD 5.4-6.4 million, net earnings in the range of USD 4.5-5.4 million and diluted earnings per share in the range of USD 0.15-0.17 per share.
