Asus has announced the MeMO Pad M172V, a 7-in tablet starting at USD 149 and featuring Android 4.1 and access to over 750,000 apps and games at Google Play. The MeMO Pad comes in a white, grey and pink diamond-patterned finish. It is powered by a VIA WM8950 1GHz CPU and a Mali-400 GPU, connecting to the internet via 802.11b/g/n Wi-Fi. The 10-point multichouch LED backlit display offers 1,024 x 600 pixel resolution, 140 degree viewing angles and 350-nit brightness for outdoor use. Its 16GB of internal storage can be extended with a 32GB MicroSD card. Preinstalled Asus apps include SuperNote Lite, BuddyBuzz, Asus Webstorage (5GB), Asus Studio and WebStorage Office. The MeMO Pad ships in January in selected markets. It will be in the same segment as the Asus-made Google Nexus 7 and inexpensive tablets from other manufacturers announced at CES.
