Claro studies infrastructure sharing in Chile

Monday 18 March 2013 | 10:24 CET | News

Claro Chile studies the possibility of sharing 4G infrastructure with various domestic operators, local newspaper Diario Financiero reports, citing Claro Chile CEO Gerardo Munoz. According to Munoz, Claro has not signed any infrastructure sharing deal yet, but "there are always options, possible approaches and analysis, and we can always study the opportunity to share some infrastructure".

"If you ask me if there is a possibility, I think there are always possibilities, we will be careful to comply with regulations, and send the appropriately notification when [such an agreement] happens. At the moment we have nothing concrete but I cannot rule out that in the future such a possibility [infrastructure sharing] may come up" Munoz added.

At the beginning of March, Claro and Telefonica/Vivo have announced they teamed up to develop a plan for sharing network infrastructure in order to improve 4G coverage in Brazil.
