E-commerce and mobile commerce (m-commerce) are now the top IT investment priorities for UK retailers, according to the latest annual 'IT in Retail' study by Martec International, sponsored by BT Expedite. The study covers the UK's leading 100 retailers with annual combined sales of over GBP 180 billion, 50,000 stores and accounting for 71 percent of the total UK retail sector. The main IT investment priority for leading retailers is e-commerce and m-commerce, up from 17 percent in 2010 to 23 percent in 2011. The study shows that 16 percent of the retailers already use m-commerce, up from from five percent last year, with a further 12 percent planning to take it up.
