Econet Telecom Lesotho launches Ecocash

Econet Telecom Lesotho (ETL) has launched Ecocash, also called Sepache-Fono (wallet-in-phone), Lestimes reproted. It allows ETL customers to make purchases without handling cash or going to a bank to withdraw money and to transfer money to another person.The firm's General Marketing Manager Palesa Kaloli said the service will help people without banking services in rural areas who need their relatives working in towns to send them money. Kaloli said the service allows ETL subscribers to keep money pn their phones at no cost. They can send money to users on the ETL and other networks, receive money from ETL subscribers and buy airtime. They can also buy goods from participating agents, get paid and pay certain bills through Ecocash
