eRecyclingCorps buys Belgium's Zone Impact

Dallas-based eRecyclingCorps (eRC) has bought Zone Impact, a Belgian mobile phone recycling and reuse company, DataNews reported. As a result of the acquisition, eRC will move its international headquarters to Brussels. ERC provides systems so that consumers can get financial credit from retailers for their old phone. The recycling company checks all the phones to then sell them under guarantee in developing countries. The company is currently preparing an international partnership of telecom companies and retailers and said the acquisition was a key component of its international strategy. Wth the buy of Zone Impact, eRC is is now active in eight European countries, with 2.5 million exchange operations at more than 1200 shops. Partners include Fnac, Belgacom, The Phone House and MediaMarkt. ERC CEO David Edmondson will head the new European office. Pascal Coenan, the founder and CEO of Zone Impact, will become vice president of strategic account operations.
