ERICSSON SDH EQUIPMENT PROVES UNPOPULAR

LM Ericsson Telefon is having trouble getting its Synchronous Digital Hierarchy (SDH) equipment accepted by operators. Telia cancelled its SDH equipment contract with Ericsson in autumn-1994 and out of France Telecom, Telecom Italia and Belgacom, only France Telecom is still testing the Ericsson equipment. Both Telecom Italia and Belgacom have selected equipment from other suppliers: Marconi and Siemens. Article further considers the optical equipment installation programmes of France Telecom, Belgacom and Telecom Italia.
