Fox Sports with fewer than 40,000 subscribers in Brazil

The Fox Sports channel, which launched in Brazil on 05 December 2011, only has 40,000 subscribers so far out of 12.74 million households with pay-TV. According to local media reports, the barrier for Fox Sports being added to the offerings of the main pay-TV operators in the country is purely in the negotiations. The channel is allegedly charging high prices of around BRL 1.50 per subscriber/month, and demanding inclusion in the basic channels. Fox Sports has yet to be added by operators such as Telefonica TV, OiTV, Sky, Embratel and Net Servicos.
