The French government has earmarked EUR 300,000 in credit for high-speed network rollouts in very densely populated areas, under the investments for the future programme. The loans come to term after several decades, in line with the nature of fibre networks. France's overall fast broadband programme has EUR 2 billion of funds, with the purpose of covering 70 percent of the population by 2020 and 100 percent by 2025. The government also announced nearly EUR 500 million in funding for two internet technology university research projects.
