France Telecom has no plans to sell Mobistar

Tuesday 4 December 2012 | 11:13 CET | News
France Telecom has no intention to sell its stake in Belgian mobile operator Mobistar nor does it want to buy any more shares in the company, chief executive Stephane Richard told De Tijd and L'Echo. France Telecom owns 52.9 percent of Mobistar. The company made the statement in response to media reports which said the carrier would either sell its stake or buy out the rest of the company. Richard said that he was glad he did not take full control of the Belgian group last year, because of a difficult environment in its French home market. Richard added that he saw no reason to leave Belgium as the current regulatory environment was favourable. "France Telecom has been in the Belgian market for 17 years, we have no plans to leave," Richard said.
