Fraunhofer Fokus launches Katwarn smartphone app

The Fraunhofer Fokus Institute and public insurers in Germany have launched the 'Katwarn' population warning system smartphone app. The new Katwarn app provides users with warnings about dangers in the current location as well as two locations of their choice across Germany. Warnings are delivered using location-based technology based on data provided by local fire and emergency response teams.
