Google launches campaign to block German copyright law

Google has launched a public campaign in German to stop Parliament passing legislation that would let publishers charge web search engines for displaying links to newspaper articles on services such as Google News, reports the Financial Times. The 'Protect your web - find what you're looking for' campaign warns users that the legislation could block easy access to information online. Stefan Tweraser, country director for Google Germany, said that it was calling on all internet users to defend access to various information online and that it hoped the Bill would be rejected by the Bundestag.
