Google websites get over 39 mln visitors a month in France

Thursday 1 November 2012 | 08:36 CET | News
Google-owned websites had 39.2 million unique visitors in France in August, according to audience measurement company Mediametrie, which now combines user-centric information from the Mediametrie-NetRatings panel and technical data provided by individual websites. In August, Google was followed by Microsoft websites with 34.6 million unique visitors, Facebook with 30.8 million, France Telecom-Orange (21.3 mln), PagesJaunes (18.8 mln), Lagardere (18.1 mln) and Wikipedia (17.7 mln). The new approach includes the panel of 22,000 French internet users and visitor data for 300 websites compiled by national press circulation body OJD. Mediametrie-NetRatings director Estelle Duval told Les Echos that the monitor now provides better coverage of some parts of the population, such as 15-24 year-olds. It still only accounts for fixed internet use, but mobiles will be added from January 2013 and tablets sometime in 2014.
