Iinet to conduct survey into AAPT brand

Australian ISP iiNet plans to conduct a survey to determine whether to keep the AAPT brand. The ISP recently announced it would buy the consumer division of Telecom New Zealand's Australian subsidiary AAPT for AUD 60 million. The company plans to conduct a market survey that will gauge brand recognition and propensity to buy AAPT products before it will decide whether to keep the brand or move customers to the iiNet brand, ZDNet Australia reports citing the company's chief regulatory officer Steve Dalby. The same review is still underway for another recent acquisition, Netspace. Iinet also conducted a similar survey when it bought Westnet, which led to Westnet being kept as a separate brand. Dalby indicated that the acquisition would likely see AAPT's unlimited download plans being terminated.
