The Wireless Home Digital Interface (WHDI) Consortium said it has two new members, namely US connectivity products provider IOGEAR and IDX Technology, which makes broadcast power products. They join consortium founders AMIMON, Hitachi, Motorola, Samsung, Sharp, Sony and LG Electronics, and dozens of adopters of the WHDI standard, which enables wireless uncompressed HD video delivery throughout the home, so any source can be connected to any display. WHDI president Leslie Chard said the fact the two companies are joining the consortium is a testament to the growth of the WHDI standard as "the only viable option" for delivering interactive HD video from any device to any display. At the same time, they announced the IOGEAR Wireless 3D Media Kit which includes a wireless HDMI transmitter and receiver able to stream full HD 1080p along with 5.1 digital surround sound audio up to 100 feet away within the home. IDX announced the IDX HD Wireless Camera System, a CAM-WAVE HD transmission system that sends uncompressed video images from camera to receiving station with a latency of less than 1 millisecond.
