iPhone 5 to push Apple to record sales in Q4

Thursday 13 September 2012 | 13:27 CET | News
The launch of the iPhone 5 later this month will push Apple to a new sales record in the fourth quarter this year, IHS iSuppli estimates. The market researcher expects fundamental changes in the new version of the smartphone, such as the larger screen and LTE, will give Apple its best quarter for iPhone sales ever. IHS estimates the company will ship 149 million units in 2012, up 60 percent from 93 million in 2011. The phone should also help drive uptake of LTE, particularly in European markets, where few stand-out LTE devices have been available to date.
