Ixia unveils network vulnerability test tool

Thursday 10 February 2011 | 07:15 CET | News
Ixia unveiled IxLoad-Attack, its network vulnerability test tool. IxLoad-Attack has a database of more than 6,000 unique attacks and recreates malicious traffic that exploits published vulnerabilities and generates internet-scale distributed denial of service attacks in a controlled environment. IxLoad-Attack measures the performance of network security appliances validating that they effectively and accurately block attacks. IxLoad-Attack includes an update service that keeps pace with current threats. IxLoad-Attack delivers the security testing depth and scale needed to satisfy both device validation and continuous protection of cloud infrastructures as well as enterprise, government, and service provider networks. IxLoad-Attack provides malicious traffic over both encrypted and non-encrypted links. Ixia's IxLoad-IPsec can be used to encrypt all types of traffic for performance testing of VPN gateway devices. IxLoad-Attack tests the security of 3G/LTE wireless core networks with GTE-encapsulation and runs in parallel with all other IxLoad functions. The first public demonstration will be at the RSA Conference 2011 in San Francisco, 14-17 February.
