Lithuania privacy watchdog warns mobile telemarketers

Lithuania's data protection inspectorate VDAI issued a statement saying that direct telemarketing calls from mobile operators are illegal without the prior agreement of recipients, reports Vz.lt. The inspectorate announced that it had received numerous complaints on the issue. The prior agreement cannot be obtained during the telemarketing call, according to the statement. The inspectorate said that a personal telephone number forms a part of protected personal data.
