Mellanox launches 8-port, 18-port switches

Tuesday 16 November 2010 | 09:23 CET | News
Connectivity service provider for servers and data centres Mellanox Technologies has launched the 8-port IS5022 and 18-port IS5023 switches. The switches can be combined with Mellanox's portfolio of 40 Gbps switch systems to enable cluster build-outs of any size. Switching features scale from 640 Gbps (8 ports) to 51.8 Tbps (648 ports) of fully non-blocking bandwidth with support for all network topologies ranging from Fat-Tree, Mesh and 3D-Torus. The switches provide low port-to-port switching latency of 100 ns and feature InfiniBand switch silicon architecture, based on Mellanox's InfiniScale IV switch architecture. The IS5022's design allows mounting of two units side by side in a 1U standard 19-inch rack, reducing space for redundant configurations. The switches also feature redundant fans and reversible air-flow options, and the ability to carry compute and storage traffic on a common converged fabric, enabling the creation of power and green clusters and data centres. Static or adaptive routing and congestion management allow the switch fabric to detect and avoid congestion and to re-route around points of congestion enabling effective fabric performance under all types of traffic conditions. The IS5022 and IS5023 InfiniBand switch systems are available for USD 3,153 and USD 6,314 respectively.
