New GSM-R system to be deployed in Meilen

The city of Meilen in Switzerland has confirmed plans to deploy a GSM-R system. This will involve deployment of one radio base station and four remote stations. The antennas at the base station at the Meilen railway stations will be replaced by two new GSM-R antennas. Construction is scheduled to commence in Q3 2012, with the system going live in Q4 2012. The CHF 130,000 cost of the project is being covered by railway operator SBB.
