Monday 4 March 2013 | 00:40 CET | News
Nippon Telegraph and Telephone Corporation (NTT) and its regional subsidiaries NTT East and West have submitted their business operation plans for the fiscal year ending 31 March 2014 to the Minister for Internal Affairs and Communications for approval. NTT's plan features two main components: providing advice, coordination, and other assistance to NTT East and West to maintain stable universal services; and a focus on value-added research and development.

According to a report in the Nikkei, the two regional carriers each aim to add 500,000 fibre broadband subscribers in the fiscal year. This is 100,000 more than last year. NTT East will aim for a total 10.25 million subscriptions, while NTT West will shoot for 8.11 million in fiscal 2013. They will also step up efforts to market the services to SMEs.
