Orange announces three own-brand smartphones for H1

Orange has announced three new own-brand touchscreen smartphones, the Lumo, San Remo and Nivo, all running Android 4.1 (Jelly Bean). The Orange Lumo is the operator’s first LTE smartphone, with a 4.5-in display and 8MP camera. The Orange San Remo has a 4.7-in display, an 8MP camera is only 8.2 mm thick. Finally, the Orange Nivo is aimed at young customers, with a 4-in screen and 5MP camera. Sales of Orange’s own smartphone range grew 62 percent in 2012.

They are the fastest growing smartphone range in the operator’s portfolio. In Spain, the Monte Carlo was the top selling phone throughout last year, and Orange devices were in the top 10 in the UK, France and Romania with the Orange Dallas and Orange Sydney.

The smartphones will be launching from the first half across a number of Orange markets including Romania, Slovakia and Spain (not all countries will carry all three devices). Pricing will be announced with local availability, but will be in line with previous Orange smartphone pricing and tariffs. All three devices will be on display at MWC.
