Orange Poland to launch NFC mobile payments service
Mobile operator Orange Poland, in cooperation with mBank and MasterCard Europe, will launch a commercial mobile payments system based on NFC technology from 1 November. The service will be accessible through the mBank MasterCard Orange Cash card, which combines a sim from Orange Poland and the payment card from mBank. Holders of the card will be allowed to pay for services and goods in shops displaying the MasterCard PayPass logo. The service will be available using HTC One X, Nokia Lumia 610, Nokia 808 Pure View, Sony Xperia S, Sony Xperia P, Sony Xperia T, Samsung Galaxy SIII, BlackBerry Bold 9900 and BlackBerry Bold 9790 mobile devices.

Polish retail chain Biedronka plans to launch its mobile payment system this year, reports Wirtualna Polska. The chain, in cooperation with ICP Poland, has deployed an application for smartphones for this purpose. An internet connection will be necessary to access the service, so the chain plans to install Wi-Fi hot-spots in its supermarkets.

Poland's mBank plans NFC payment service with T-Mobile

Polish online bank mBank has invested in NFC-based payment technology enabling customers to pay for services and goods using smartphones. The service, in cooperation with the mobile operator T-Mobile Poland and MasterCard, is planned to be launched in November. It will be necessary to have T-Mobile Poland's T-Wallet application in order to access the service.
