PROTON CARS FITTED WITH CATALYTIC CONVERTERS

Tuesday 18 April 1995 | 00:00 CET | News
Proton may fit catalytic converters to Proton cars sold in Malaysia from 1996, according to Nadzmi Salleh, managing director. There are currently no regulations in Malaysia over catalytic converter use. Proton cars exported to Europe and the UK are already fitted with imported catalytic converters. Proton expects catalytic converters to be produced locally soon under a JV between Johnson Matthey (US) and Hicom. The JV, Johnson Matthey Hicom, will be 30% held by Hicom, 50% by Johnson Matthey and 20% by K-Zaq (M).
