Friday 16 March 2012 | 10:55 CET | News
The Higher Regional Court in Hamburg has affirmed a judgement against RapidShare delivered at the Regional Court in Hamburg in June 2009. The court decided in favour of German copyright association Gema, which had accused the company of illegally offering copyright-protected music on its sharing service. RapidShare was ordered to take preventive action to prevent further violations. At the same time, two other rulings against RapidShare forbid the distribution of books from the publishers Campus and Walter de Gruyter. With 160 million files, 500,000 new uploads per day and more than 42 million daily users, RapidShare is one of the biggest file hosters worldwide.
