Samsung plans rugged version of Galaxy S4 for July - report

Monday 29 April 2013 | 10:09 CET | News
Samsung plans to launch a new rugged version of its Galaxy S4 smartphone, expected to be called the Galaxy S4 Active, in July, a person familiar with the matter told the Wall Street Journal. The new phone will be dust proof and waterproof, while maintaining the look and feel of the Galaxy S4. The person also said Samsung was preparing to launch a smaller Galaxy S4, measuring 4.3-in, in July and an 8-in Galaxy Tablet in June. The company already offers 7-in and 10.1-in Galaxy tablets. Sprint Nextel and T-Mobile USA said last week that they were delaying the launch of the S4 due to supply problems. Galaxy S4 preorders are four times bigger than those that had been received for the Galaxy S3 smartphone, the person said.
