SFR brings forward LTE launch to 28 November
French mobile operator SFR has announced plans to launch commercial LTE services in Lyon on 28 November, ahead of the crucial holiday shopping season and before the accepted commercial LTE launch for all operators in January 2013. The Vivendi subsidiary achieved 98.6 percent of the population covered by HSPA this summer and expects to have 60 percent Dual Carrier (DC-HSDPA+) coverage by the end of 2012, doubling peak speeds to 42 Mbps. The Lyon LTE service will be accompanied by a range of terminals and the new "Formules Carrees" offers and tariffs it just introduced.

French operator SFR has launched commercial LTE services for consumer and business customers in Lyon. The operator has been running a pilot service with 400 customers in the city since the summer. French mobile and broadband operator SFR has launched a TV ad campaign in partnership with media engagement company Shazam. Running until 25 December, the drive features five ads, the first on "4G Ready", two on its dual carrier HSPA network and two on the multi-surf service of its new "Carrees" subscriptions. Deal struck on LTE antennas on Paris municipal buildings

Paris city council has come to an agreement with France's four mobile network operators about placing mobile antennas on municipal buildings, Les Echos reports. SFR H1 revenues fall 5.9% to EUR 5.76 billion

French operator SFR reported revenues down 5.9 percent to EUR 5.76 billion in the first half, compared to the year-earlier period, due to price cuts imposed by regulators and increased competition in the mobile market. SFR recruits beta-testers for LTE in Lyon

SFR has started organising an LTE beta test in Lyon, where Bouygues Telecom is currently running its own, Degroup News reports. French operators plan joint LTE pilot for early 2013

French operators Orange, SFR and Bouygues Telecom will launch joint tests of a LTE network in the beginning of 2013, digital economy minister Fleur Pellerin told AFP. The minister said talks last week at the ministry led to a breakthrough after six months of negotiations, and the operators are ready to start the tests in Saint-Etienne.
