T-Mobile Poland adds customers in Q2

T-Mobile Poland had a very good second quarter, with subscriber additions up on Q1, CEO Miroslav Rakowski said in an interview with Parkiet. T-Mobile may have surpassed Orange Poland in customer growth. Rakowski did not disclose the number of customers at the end of June. At the end of the first quarter, there were 14.518 million. Rakowski also said that his company will not bid for cable operator Multimedia Polska. However, Rakowski did not exclude interest in acquisitions in other market segments. Like other operators, T-Mobile Poland sees the benefits of cooperation with the financial sector. Based on the agreement between Deutsche Telekom and MasterCard the operator will enter the payment systems market and offer NFC services. T-Mobile's CEO thinks that over time it will be an increasingly important element of the company's revenues. However, as he noted, neither financial services nor growing sales of laptops will compensate the revenue loss for the year after the reduction in mobile termination rates from 1 July. According to Rakowski, the lower wholesale rates will cost the total market PLN 300-400 million in revenues.
