Telekom Deutschland continues to roll-out DSL, UMTS and LTE networks in rural areas around Northern Germany, where currently no broadband services are available. The operator has signed a joint venture agreement with the city of Haren in Lower Saxony to connect its district Altharen with VDSL technology by the third quarter of 2012. This will enable around 220 households to order broadband services up to 50 Mbps. Telekom also activated its LTE network in Eikeloh (Lower Saxony) enabling inhabitants and businesses in the municipalities to order its 'Call & Surf Comfort Via Funk' tariff for EUR 39.95 (consumer) or EUR 33.57 (business) per month. The tariff includes an internet flat-rate with a maximum download speed of up to 3 Mbps and an upload speed of 500 Kbps and a flat-rate for calls to the German fixed-line network. Another municipality in Lower Saxony is now covered by Telekom Deutschland's HSPA/UMTS network: Garrel. This enables inhabitants to order mobile broadband services with maximum download speeds of 21.6 Mbps. In Schleswig Holstein, Telekom activated its HSPA/UMTS network in Waabs.
