T-Mobile Germany plans LTE pilot for end 2009

Monday 2 June 2008 | 09:04 CET | News
The next generation of mobile network technology, LTE, has developed further and will now be able to offer 170/50 Mbps, according to T-Mobile Germany's technical director Guenther Ottendorfer during his speech at the Mobile Vision Kongress in Germany, cited by teltarif.de. He also said that T-Mobile plans to upgrade its EDGE/UMTS/HSPA network to LTE, because the speeds offered are needed to enable the operator to provide new services like high-quality video. Ottendorfer expects to start with a LTE pilot project at the end of 2009 or at the latest in the beginning of 2010.
