Twitter acquires Summify

Monday 23 January 2012 | 11:32 CET | News
Twitter has acquired Summify, a start-up that created an online application which provides daily summaries of the most relevant news from users' social networks via e-mail or a special iPhone app. Roughly 2 years ago, Summify moved from Romania to Vancouver, Canada, after being accepted into Bootup Labs, a start-up incubator. Summify launched its email summary product in March 2011. Summify will be disabling new account registrations immediately and it will also be removing some features. It will keep the email summaries for a few more weeks, but at some point it will shut down the current Summify product. Summify will offer a more streamlined service as it transitions its efforts to working at Twitter. The Romanian entrepreneurs behind Summify, Mircea Pasoi and Cristian Strat, will be moving down to San Francisco and will work out of the Twitter office. They are joining Twitter's Growth team and will continue to explore ways to help people connect and engage with relevant, timely news.
