Vodafone Netherlands introduces femtocell for businesses

Wednesday 28 September 2011 | 16:40 CET

Vodafone Netherlands is launching a femtocell for the business market called SignalPlus, from 17 October. Marketed as a way to boost and extend 3G coverage indoors, the femtocells are connected to the Vodafone network through a fixed broadband connection. Owners can control access to the femtocell, limiting access to employees and ensuring guaranteed capacity. All local calls and mobile data use run over the device and broadband connection. Developed with Huawei, the Vodafone femtocell can support up to four simultaneous users and is aimed at home and small offices. In 2012, the mobile operator will introduce similar devices for larger offices as well as consumer femtocells.
