WhatsApp problems continue in NL, elsewhere

Tuesday 18 October 2011 | 10:26 CET | News
Chat platform WhatsApp said via Twitter that its service was experiencing problems in the Netherlands and that the company was looking for the cause. Problems have also been reported outside of the country. Thousands of Dutch people were not able to use the very popular IM service on 17 October, with problems cropping up around 1.00 pm. The disturbances are platform independent. The WhatsApp website does not report any problems, which appear to cause delays or non deliveries of messages and other content. The WhatsApp application allows users to send text, video and audio messages via mobile internet. The app runs on any OS: Android, Blackberry, iOS, Symbian and Windows Phone. In the Netherlands, around three million people use the app.
