Zon launches 1 Gbps broadband service

Portuguese cable network operator Zon Multimedia has commercially launched its broadband service with download speeds of 1 Gbps. Launched under the Zon Fibra brand, the service will initially be available only for residential customers. The Zon Fibra 1 Gbps provides unlimited internet traffic and will be offered as part of triple-play packages. The package will include access to the Funtastic TV service, along with a fixed voice plan with unlimited calls to Portugal and 20 countries in the world, as well as 100 MB for mobile broadband traffic. The service will be available for EUR 249.90 per month, plus a one-time equipment installation and activation fee of EUR 99. As a launch promotion, by year-end, users will be able to access the service with no equipment installation fee.
