Dutch Mobile Operator 2007-Q4

Pages: 27   Published: 01 Apr 2008

Services revenues in the Dutch mobile market increased 5 percent in 2007 to a total EUR 6.31 billion. According to Telecompaper’s quarterly mobile market monitor, the increase was due largely to growth in messaging and data services, while revenues from voice services were flat. Fourth-quarter services revenues rose 1.2 percent to EUR 1.55 billion, led by 28.4 percent growth in non-voice revenues. The number of mobile subscribers increased by 483,000 in the fourth quarter to 19.310 million at year-end, and was up by 1.357 million over the full year. Market penetration increased to 117.8 percent at year-end, from 115.4 percent in Q3. KPN remained market leader with 48.1 percent of all subscribers, while Vodafone saw its market share dip to 20.9 percent and the new combination of T-Mobile and Orange moved into second place with 25.3 percent. We forecasts the mobile services market to grow 3-5 percent in 2008, to EUR 6.5-6.6 billion. Growing demand for mobile data services will drive market growth, while reductions in roaming prices and mobile termination rates will keep voice revenues under pressure this year. The number of subscribers is expected to hit 20 million by mid-2008, while the market may see 21 million customers by the end of this year.

TomTom’s HD Traffic service boosts mobile revenues

Pages: 3   Published: 07 Apr 2008

Recently TomTom has launched its new High Definition Traffic service. The company offers the new service as part of the One XL PND and as an add-on for existing customers. This service will provide a nice boost in revenues for the mobile operators that partner with TomTom as the agreement between TomTom and the operator includes a revenue share of the monthly recurring subscription cost for the HD traffic service. In this Research Brief we have estimated revenues for Vodafone Netherlands and for mobile operators in Belgium, Germany and UK. Telecompaper estimates that Vodafone Netherlands will add about EUR 7.3 million in extra data revenue in 2009, and the mobile operator in Belgium that secures the deal with TomTom could earn EUR 2.4 million in one year.

Dutch MVNO - Market overview Third Quarter 2007

Pages: 56   Published: 18 Dec 2007

In September 2007, over 40 Virtual Operators (VOs) were active in the Dutch market. VOs that entered the mobile market over the last six months (March 2007 to September 2007) include Esprit Telecom, Simpel Mobiel, My Dads Phone Company and Miles2Call. However, the number of MVNOs in the report declined as some MVNOs combined operations, such as Tele2 Mobiel and Versatel. Over the next 12 months, Telecompaper expects the number of VOs to stabilise, as the number of newcomers is offset by VOs leaving the market and consolidation. The report shows that the two market leaders Debitel and Tele2 have lost market share over the past year, while a number of newcomers like Lebara Mobile, Ortel Mobile and Lycamobile have done well.
