Broadband Industry is working full speed on G.Fast

Friday 2 May 2014 | 17:46 CET | Author: Bart Garvelink | Background
G.Fast will be the next evolution for broadband over copper networks. Over a short loop, typically 100 meters, broadband speeds of over 1 Gbps are possible. The ITU has approved the G.Fast standards on 04 April, with finalization expected in December. The network industry has some comprehensive testing ahead, explains Robin Mersh, CEO of standards group Broadband Forum. He sees no reason for network operators not to deploy G.Fast. Equipment could be commercially available in early 2015.
