Liberty Global holds off on Docsis 3.1 with new gateway

Monday 9 November 2015 | 16:03 CET | Author: Bart Garvelink | Background
Liberty Global announced the introduction of a new cable modem for broadband, Wi-Fi and fixed telephony. Telenet in Belgium and UPC Romania will get the new modem first, and the device developed with Arris, Compal and Celeno will roll out eventually across the cable operator's footprint in Europe and Latin America. Notably Liberty Global has chosen a Docsis 3.0 chipset, despite Docsis 3.1 nearly ready to hit the market.
