NFC mobile payments move into the merchant payments sector

The use of near-field communication (NFC) technology in connection with mobile devices has opened the door for the development of a wide variety of applications, in fields ranging from NFC-enabled mobile retail marketing (via coupons and smart posters) to NFC mobile payments. Indeed, the use of NFC applications in conjunction with mobile devices - for mobile payments in particular - is a match made in heaven: the ubiquity of the mobile phone and the speed of transactions relayed via NFC payment terminals are naturally complementary and effective.
