Possible UPC/Ziggo merger underlines existing duopoly

Ziggo's announcement that it is in talks with UPC Netherlands' parent Liberty Global about a possible merger is a new chapter in the ongoing saga of a possible merger of the two largest cable operators in the Netherlands. If such a merger takes place, the new company would become the largest telecom operator in several markets. This article shows the consequences for the Dutch consumer broadband, TV and fixed telephony markets in terms of revenue and subscriber market shares.
