Swiss banks having another go at mobile payments with relaunch of Twint

In September 2016 Swiss mobile payment systems Paymit and Twint were given clearance to merge. In April 2017 the new Twint app was relaunched, after the two parties agreed in May 2016 to merge. Paymit was originally set up by the banks and finance company Six, while the Postfinance was behind Twint. In light of the increasing competition on the mobile payment market, especially after the introduction of Apple Pay in July 2016, the two schemes decided to combine their forces.
