Google has announced a series of new subsea and terrestrial fibre investments linking India with Australia, South Africa and Singapore, alongside the creation of a new subsea gateway on India's east coast, as part of its America-India Connect infrastructure programme.

Samsung India has launched its 40th dedicated smartphone service centre in Kerala. The new facility will deliver Samsung after-sales support for Galaxy smartphone users. The launch of the 40th service centre takes the total number of Samsung service points for smartphones in Kerala to 50, which includes 10 dedicated service sections in Samsung Experience Stores across the state. Samsung also reports it currently has over 3,000 authorized service points across India.

Bangladesh's Posts and Telecommunications Division has officially directed telecoms regulator BTRC to allocate 10 MHz of spectrum in the 700 MHz 'golden band' to the state-owned operator Teletalk, according to official documents seen by The Daily Star. This directive comes despite Teletalk currently owing over BDT 55 billion in unpaid spectrum fees and other liabilities. Virgin Media Ireland ends 2025 with 354,100 broadband subscribers

Virgin Media Ireland ended 2025 with a total of 380,400 fixed-line customer relationships, compared to 393,300 at end-2024, with a quarter-on-quarter net loss of 4,200 customer relationships in Q4  The group lost a net 3,400 broadband subscribers in Q4 (quarter-on-quarter) to end 2025 with a total of 354,100 customers, down from 363,200 broadband subscribers at end-2024. Revenues of Orange Poland totaled PLN 3.493 billion in the fourth quarter of 2025, up by 4.6 percent on a comparable basis year-on-year. EBITDAaL rose a faster 6.2 percent to PLN 861 million, delivering a margin of 24.6 percent, up by 0.4 percentage points. The net income was PLN 69 million, down by 66 percent due to restructuring costs for a workforce reduction and increased depreciation following network investments.

The anti-piracy group Brein is going after illegal IPTV offers marketed online. The group said it had several online campaigns and a website using a .nl domain taken offline for marketing the illegal services. The sellers are using influencers and comparison sites more to promote their offers as legitimate alternatives to pay-TV, Brein said.

Kazakhstan launches new broadband expansion project in villages

Kazakhstan has launched a new project focused on expansion of broadband networks in villages, reports Profit.kz. Fibre-optical lines are planned to be deployed in 1,123 villages. Broadband at least at 100 Mbps speed will be available there. The project is expected to cover more than 445,000 households including around 2.3 million residents.

Latvian operator LMT said that its engineering team specialising in sensors and (IoT) has started work on a new European Space Agency (ESA) project. This will allow devices to switch between mobile networks and satellites as needed, using a single module.
