Alphabet launches major debt issue
Alphabet, the parent company of Google, has launched a major debt issue. According to a prospectus filed with the SEC, the issue will have seven series with varying maturities, with the proceeds going to "general corporate purposes", including refinancing existing debt. The Financial Times reported citing market sources that the issue will include a 100-year bond, in the company's debut offering in pound sterling, as well as USD 20 billion in dollar debt and a Swiss franc issue.
